World’s first FLYku competition!
We are very excited to be launching the World’s first FLYku competition which is now open to children and young people aged 15 yrs and under. A FLYku is a decorated paper airplane with a haiku on it.
PRIZES
The winner will be awarded the ‘Wings of Poesie’ medal and a VIP flight with the Poetry Plane crew.
Runners up will receive a mini FLYku trophy.
Shortlisted entries will receive a FLYku certificate of commendation.
INTERNATIONAL SHOWCASE
The winner, runners up and shortlisted applicants will also see their FLYkus being exhibited in a special show hosted by Cornwall Flying Club at its eco-airfield in Bodmin, Cornwall and in Lille, France during the summer/Autumn of 2025.

RULES OF ENTRY
Entry is FREE. However, we can accept only 1 FLYku per applicant.
Applicants must be the age of 15yrs or under as of February 23rd 2025.
HOW TO ENTER
Create your own FLYku which is just an individually designed paper airplane with a haiku written on it.
The paper airplane must be made from A4 sized paper (21cm x 29.7cm) This can be decorated using any materials
ie pen and ink; drawing pencils, paints; print, collage etc. The haiku can feature anywhere on the plane.
The FLYku must be the applicant’s own original work. The haiku featured can be on any theme and use the 5/7/5 format or be a little more experimental. However, it must be written in ENGLISH and be only 3 short lines.

Entries must be accompanied by the following information:
- Name and age of child/young person
- Address and contact email
- Signature of responsible adult, parent or guardian.
FOR TEACHERS
If you are a teacher of a whole class who are submitting FLYkus, these can be sent as one package.
If this is the case, each FLYku needs to be numbered on the underside.
On a separate sheet of paper write the name and age of the child/pupil alongside the number of their FLYku.
Please also include the name and address of your school with a contact name and email.
Every entry must be the original and unpublished work of the entrant.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Artconnexion UK CIC will use the personal information collected upon entry of the FLYku Contest for the purpose of
organizing the contest, informing the winner and other activities related to the FLYku contest.
Winning FLYku will be publicly announced with the winner’s name and age. All rights of entry (haiku and artwork on the FLYaiku) will be reserved by Artconnexion UK CIC.
